PHOTOS: More scenes from Carson City as lawmakers move into another day of the special session
The halls of the Legislature remained quiet but the stakes high as lawmakers, essential staff and a handful of journalists followed efforts to fix a $1.2 billion shortfall in the state's budget.
On Tuesday, the seventh day of a special session, the most passion came out in discussions about a non-binding resolution urging Congress and the president to release more federal money to cash-strapped Nevada. All-important discussions on what must be cut and what can be spared continued behind the scenes but did not come up for public discussion.
A second special session to address criminal justice, COVID liability and worker protection is also expected, but few more details about when that might happen or what it might cover were divulged.
The Nevada Independent’s David Calvert was in the building as the proceedings continued.
