The humble hot dog got some overdue honor at the Henderson City Council meeting on Tuesday. In a formal proclamation, Mayor Debra March declared July National Hot Dog Month and encouraged residents to enjoy “America’s iconic food.” The proclamation lauds franks as a major driver of the U.S. economy ($2.4 billion in annual sales!) and gives a shout-out to Henderson restaurant The Steamie Weenie for both its second anniversary and an innovative peanut butter, bacon and jalapeno jelly dog.
