Democratic attorney general candidate Aaron Ford has parted ways with a campaign manager who had run his race since early this year.

Peggy Yang left for a job in Washington, D.C. and was last mentioned in a campaign press release on July 31. Jessica Adair, who has been with the campaign since the spring and was doing communications, is assuming her responsibilities.

"I'm proud to be working with State Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford as he campaigns to become Nevada's next Attorney General and put Nevada families first," Adair said in a statement. "He is no stranger to the struggles of so many working families ... Now, he wants to give back to this community."

Yang had previously worked as a communications and research adviser at Senate Majority PAC (a well-funded Democratic super PAC), and served as a research director for Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy’s 2012 Senate campaign.

Ford, the state Senate majority leader, is running a competitive race against Republican former Assistant Attorney General Wes Duncan. Ford has been the subject of negative headlines in recent weeks after revelations that he had been arrested several times as a college student in Texas.

He’d been accused of public intoxication and stealing tires when he was in his 20s, and has acknowledged he made “bad decisions” but said he doesn’t want that to define the work he’s done since.

Still, the arrests have become the subject of digital ads and an attack website from the Republican Attorney General’s Association that questions whether he can be trusted as the state’s top law enforcement officer.
