FACT BRIEF

Is Trump on the Nevada Republican primary ballot?

By Sean Golonka on 01/03/2024

NO

While Nevada Republican voters who visit caucus locations on the evening of Feb. 8 will see former President Donald Trump on their ballots, the primary mail ballots sent to nearly all registered Republican voters in Nevada will not include Trump.

That’s because Trump filed to run in the Nevada Republican Party’s presidential caucus and opted not to file for the state-run presidential primary that will conclude two days earlier on Feb. 6.

The Nevada GOP approved rules for its caucus that apportion delegates based on the results of the caucus and bar candidates from participating in both the caucus and the primary, meaning candidates had to opt for one contest or the other.

Other major Republican candidates who filed for the in-person-only caucus, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, are also not on the primary ballot and won’t appear on the materials mailed to voters.
